Plover Spuds on Snow

United We Trail – Divided We Fail

December 5, 2009

Presidents Update:

Not that you all have finished off the turkey leftovers and snow is in the air (this am on the ground too), it’s time to turn our thoughts to snowmobiling. Santa’s favorite past time after the presents are delivered.

Work continues on the Smiley’s trail. Brian Fitzpatrick has corresponded with the surrounding land owners but there is one (the financial institution that foreclosed on H2O) that continues to hold out permission. Brian will keep us posted. 3 of our club members: Mark Paul, Dale Glenn and myself attended the November Kellner Knights snowmobile club meeting. We were able to secure many signs for use this first year until we have funding to purchase our own signs. A big thanks to our neighboring snowmobile club the Kellner Knights. We have learned 1.3 miles of this trail is funded for grooming if we can secure the landowner permissions in time. We are also working with the Almond Snow Eagles to annex this section of trail into their trail program. In exchange we will assist with signage and off season trail work once the trail is re-established. Many of you know this is due to the high cost of securing insurance coverage. If you have any questions or concerns, please bring them to our attention at the upcoming meetings or call me directly to discuss. My phone number is 345-2852.

Christmas Party 12/09/09 @ 6:30

We will be having our annual Christmas Party/meeting on Wed Dec 9th at 6:30.

The club will supply 2 drink tickets per person and pizza. Please bring a dessert or snack to pass. We will also take up a collection for Operation Bootstrap. Finally with regards to a gift exchange, we will try something new this year with a “White Elephant” gift exchange. Bring something you already own in your home, but no longer use (in new or like new condition) as a gift exchange. This should be fun!

SOS Club Trip Feb 19-21st

We have chosen a location for the 2010 Plover SOS club trip. Feb 19-21 we have rented a “log home” at Booth Lake in Minocqua. Once the total number of attendants is known, we will divide the cost of the lodging. Cheryl, Diane, Deb and Trish have coordinated meals, everyone is to bring your own drinks. This will be a blast! If you are interested in joining us for this event (even just for a day of sledding in the north woods) please call me or attend an upcoming meeting to find out more details.
