Plover Spuds On Snow News Letter December 5, 2007
Next regular membership meeting and our club Christmas Party is Wednesday December 12, 2007, 6:30 p.m. @ Smiley’s.
I have contacted Gina about checking to see if the February
15, 16, & 17, 2008 date is OK at the Birches Resort. I expect to hear from
Gina before the December meeting, so I should be able to give you an update by
then. Each member would still be responsible for booking their own lodging. This is the same place as last year, and it
worked out well for our members. The
Birches’ website is www.birchesresort.com
With all the snow we have been receiving, I am sure everyone is already started to think about the upcoming snowmobile season. I told Smiley’s that I expected at least 20 of our members to make it to this year’s Christmas party. As in the past, we will have snacks and order pizzas. We will also provide each member and any potential member two (2) drink tickets ($5.00 value). If your schedule didn’t match up with any of the previous meetings, this would be a good time to make your first meeting. Come on out and have a good time. Bring a potential new member.
Usually as part of the Club Christmas Party, we do a gift exchange. Those who want to participate bring a wrapped gift valued at $8-$10. We pick names and then allow each person time to pick a gift. Since we have so many things to be thankful for and others do not, at our last meeting we discussed doing something a little different at this year’s party. We decided to apply the money we would normally spend on a gift and purchase needed food items and bring them to the Christmas party instead. Diane contacted Rosann DeBot at Operation Bootstrap, to see what special needs there may be this holiday season. Operation Bootstrap at this time could really use Coffee, Pork & Beans, Crackers & canned Soups, Pancake Mix & Syrup, and canned Tuna fish. Since they will be doing holiday baskets for 540 families in Portage County, they could also use canned hams. A basket will be provided at the Christmas party for donated food items. Please bring them with you. If you prefer to donate cash, that will be gladly accepted. Their monthly milk bill runs in hundreds of dollars. Cash is always appreciated to pay for perishable food items as needs arise. The club intends to make a cash donation as well.
2008-2009 Elections
Now is the time to give some thought to your interest in becoming and/or remaining a club officer. Elections are still several months away, but at least we need to start thinking and talking about it. Per our by-laws the election of officers is to take place at the regular membership meeting in March. These officers would then be installed at the April meeting. We will start accepting nominations for President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and one Board of Director position.

There was some interest expressed in Plover Spuds on Snow clothing. I would suggest visiting the MADA Embroidery website www.madacustom.com to see a listing of their products. Their telephone number is (715) 341-1773 and they are located at 3100 Minnesota Ave. in Stevens Point. They should be able to make whatever you choose.
American Council of Snowmobile Associations 2008 Raffle Calendars are available for the low cost of $20.00. You have 365 chances to win. Requests for calendars will be
taken at the December meeting
