United We Trail – Divided We Fail

March 31, 2008

Next regular membership meeting is Wednesday April 9, 2008

7:00 p.m.  @ Smiley’s.

Local Snowmobile Issues with Officer Steve Fredock

Officer Steve Fredock of the Plover Police Department will be at our April 9, 2008 meeting to address the concerns the Plover Police Department incurs during the snowmobile season.  This would be an excellent opportunity to voice concerns as Plover residents.  Good attendance would be a big plus.

Secretary Opening

We have had some preliminary interest from multiple members as to how we may fill the position.  However at this time we still do not have a secretary.  We need to resolve this vacancy at the April 9, 2008 meeting.  We need for someone to step forward to accept this position.   If we do not have a club member volunteer to fill this vacancy in the immediate future, our By-Laws state that it will be the responsibility of the Directors to find a member to fill the position.

Installation of Officers

We have accepted nominations for officers at both the January and February 2008 meetings.  The following members accepted the nomination:

                        President                     Brian Fitzpatrick

                        Vice-President                      Rick Rossier

                        Treasurer                     Deb Berkholtz

                        Director                         Eric Liazuk

These officers will be installed at the April 9, 2008 meeting.

Summer Campout @ Vista Royale in Bancroft

For those club members that are interested in camping, the PSOS have held a campout for the last several years at Vista Royale in Bancroft.  We again have tentative plans to be at Vista Royale the weekend of June 13-15 (Father’s Day Weekend).  This has normally been an excellent time for club member to get together and relax.  We need to finalize the details at the April and May general membership meetings.   Please call Brian or Diane Fitzpatrick @ 341-0601 for details.

Portage County Snowmobile Map

The Portage County Snowmobile Alliance is asking that each club assign one or two members to be on the committee for the new map.  At the PSOS March meeting we had at least one member express interest in being on the committee.   Ideally two (2) members would be great.  It is not hard and it is not time consuming.  Give us some help!!

Be sure to check out the Plover Spuds on Snow website at www.ploverspudsonsnow.com

There are pictures from our 2008 club trip to Holiday Acres in Rhinelander.  We had a great time.  Thanks to VP Rick Rossier for updating the website.  Be sure to check the links for additional information.

Corridor 15

At the last Alliance of Portage County Snowmobile Clubs, I asked why Corridor15 was moved.    I was told that the primary reason was the uncertainty caused by the potential H2O Development west of County Rd R (Eisenhower).  The intent for 2008-2009 would be to have access from Smiley’s east to the existing Corridor 15.

Snowmobile Sneak Preview

All four (4) manufacturers will be at the Shopko Center in Green Bay on Thursday April 10, 2008.  I believe the show runs from 4 – 9 PM.

Club Outings 2009

Give some thought if we want to return to Holiday Acres in Rhinelander or what else we may have for choices.  We need to make a decision, and book early in the fall.  Do we also want to return to Pine Ridge of Wautoma for a weekend?   Club members and friends had an excellent time at both places.
